College Graduate
The photo below shows Donald during his graduation from Wharton. The man beside him is Fred Trump, his father. This photo was posted on his Instagram account. The POTUS talked about the way his father made the company even more successful by building and then selling “thousands of houses, barracks, and apartments” in New York City. Donald would become the president of E. Trump & Son three years after that. However, they eventually changed the name of the company to the Trump Organization.
Brooklyn, 1975
Here is another photo that Trump put up on his Facebook profile: “#TBT With my father, Fred Trump, in Brooklyn,1975. A great Father’s Day gift—a stay at my 5-star hotel.” It must have been a great moment for both of them. However, there was trouble waiting for them. In the same year, the Trump family settled a case filed by the Justice Department. It claimed that the company had been systematically discriminating against prospective African-American renters. The Justice Department said that the Trump Organization racially profiled their clients. It was not even the first time that their company had to settle a racial discrimination case. In 1969, they got sued by the management of their property in Cincinnati, Ohio. The news reports claimed that Fred Trump wanted to settle the lawsuit quietly. Even if these things happened, the business only continued to grow.
