It was like hiking every other day with Kyle before they realized that something wasn’t right with him. He was acting strange. He was nervous, sniffing around with intent. Maybe it was old reflexes from his days as a service animal?

Something was clearly wrong either way. Prior to the Smiths, Kyle had been to 2 other families. The last two lasted only a short while because, as a police dog, he had not yet resigned and still had to do more crime-fighting. Kyle wasn’t done with his detective work, for sure.
