Dimebag Darrell

Damageplan’s Dimebag Darrell has never received professional guitar instruction, but his style is legendary. He made superb use of the major third in his riffs and leads to create dissonance in minor key tonalities. He had great plucking skills as well but preferred legato phrasing. Something terrible happened on December 8, 2004, during a Damageplan event at the Alrosa nightclub in Ohio. During the first concert, a disturbed fan leaped onto the stage and shot Dimebag Darrell many times. On the scene, the guitar icon was pronounced dead. He died while he was only 38 years old.

B.B. King

B.B. King, who was born in 1925, was the first to introduce the world to a sophisticated guitar solo style. Using string bending and vibrato, he pioneered new techniques for electric blues. B.B. (short for Blues Boy) is no doubt the unquestioned “King” of the blues guitar. He was a long-time blues friend and one of the all-time greats. King passed away peacefully in his sleep in 2015, at the age of 89.
