Hovawart

Hovawarts are native to Germany and are an ancient dog breed. This explains its large build; it can grow up to 28 inches tall and weigh more than 100 pounds. Since the Hovawart is highly intelligent and has a strong personality, it might make it less ideal for first-time dog owners. On the other hand, however, this breed is faithful, fun-loving, and extremely alert. While they make great family dogs, it takes a lot of training to get there.

When they’re not being guardians or hunters, they love swimming and even climbing trees.
