Bergamasco Sheepdog

If you’ve been lucky enough to meet a Bergamasco Sheepdog, you won’t forget it. The bulky, dreadlocked shepherd dogs have an ancient history that dates back to the Phenicians. After almost getting wiped out in WWII, they’ve made a bit of a comeback. Their matted fur coat is definitely their most distinctive trait; it contains three very different textures interwoven together. The layers of warmth helped them while they were in their homeland in the Italian Alps.

Bracco Italiano

The Bracco Italiano has a history that dates all the way back to the 4th century, B.C. It’s usually considered to be the world’s first pointer dog. This breed was very popular in the Middle Ages, but they almost died out in the 1800s. It wasn’t until 2007 when an American club was formed for them. They’re known for making great hunting dogs, thanks to their calm demeanor and attitude. Not to mention their tough and hardy nature.
