The Drums
The Carpenter family relocated to California in the year 1963. There, Richard matriculated at California State College in Long Beach where he developed his passion for music further. Karen, on the other hand, enrolled at Downey High School, where she also learned to play drums. The siblings played together for the first time in a pit orchestra that accompanied a staging of the musical Guys and Dolls.
