Eventually, she revised her will and indicated in the contents that she was leaving everything to her family when she dies. After the couple quarrelled publicly in a restaurant, they separated. In 1982, Karen applied for divorce.

Sadly, Karen Carpenter passed away due to heart failure related to anorexia on February 1st in 1983. However, her death brought awareness about different eating disorders. Her passing came as a shock to the general public, but it aided in educating about the possible dangers of bulimia and anorexia.
