Richard Moves On
Needless to say, losing his sister had been devastating for Richard, but in 1984, Richard made good progress by starting a family. He and his first cousin (who was adopted) tied the knot. Together, they have five children, one of whom is named Mindi Karen. The couple named another child Kristi Lynn – the name that Karen wanted to give her own child.

A Living Legacy
The Carpenter family is the founder of the Carpenter Memorial Foundation. It raises money for extensive research into eating disorders, specifically anorexia nervosa. The organization’s name was later changed, and it included new funding projects such as the arts, entertainment and education. The current name of the organization is Carpenter Family Foundation.
