At the age of 16, Nicole began to notice small bumps on her skin. They began in small spots and then spread to other parts of her body. She paid the doctor a visit after suffering from fever and fatigue. They also found out she had jaundice too. After blood samples, they learned she had a very low platelet level. While most adults have 140,000 to 150,000 blood platelets, she had only 8,000.

After the checkup, she was diagnosed with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, TTP for short. The autoimmune disease is possibly fatal. She was only a teen, so it must have had come as a shock. The disease causes blood clots to form around the body. She stayed in the hospital for a while, but it was great that she got there in time to get treatment.
