People all over the globe witnessed the massive success of The Carpenters during the early ‘70s. Siblings Richard and Karen have become known for shaping the music industry, specifically the sub-genre called “Sunshine Pop.” However, little did everyone know that not everything was perfect, despite the fame and fortune the duo have amassed. Richard and Karen were born to Harold Bertram Carpenter and Agnes Reuwer. When the siblings were young, Richard preferred spending time indoors playing the piano and listening to classical music, whereas Karen liked playing outdoor sports together with her friends. Their parents, however, noticed that both their children were greatly interested in music in spite of their differences.

Musically Inclined

Karen’s parents weren’t really sure what path their daughter was going to take, so they tried various things. At four years old, they already enrolled her in a tap dancing and ballet class.
