Airplane Turned Into A Home By This Creative Man

Are you the type of person who finds walking through the woods a relaxing experience? What if one day, as you are enjoying the surrounds, you come across an aircraft! What is the first thing you are going to think of? Perhaps you will start thinking that you found a plane crash site or maybe even some sort of plane junkyard. If you find yourself in the Hillsboro area in Oregon, however, it likely means that you have discovered Bruce Campbell’s unusual home.

Of course, Campbell is far from being the first man to have created a shelter from an unconventional object that was meant for a different thing completely. There are plenty of people out there who have fashioned some wild homes, after all. Some of these have been normalized to a certain extent – trailers and boat houses, anyone? Let us take a look at other things that people have used to make their homes!

In several cultures, it is considered the norm to craft living spaces in trees. Meanwhile, others have turned to mud, bricks, stone, and straw to create their quarters. However, how did this fellow ever come up with the idea of using an actual aircraft for his home? Don’t worry, we will get to the bottom of this in no time.

It is not surprising at all to hear that Bruce Campbell did not exactly have an easy time finding a jetliner and transforming it into a house. The man faced many challenges along the way, that much is certain. We don’t even have to go deep into legal matters – just imagine the time, money, and effort involved in bringing the gigantic airplane into his lot! As if that is not challenging enough, he also had to convert the Boeing 727 into a place that could house him and that he could call his home. Obviously, the plane had not been designed to make way for a large living area, bedroom, and kitchen. However, the thing you need to keep in mind that we are not talking about any regular guy here!

We’ll have you know that Bruce was actually an electrical engineer who has since gone into retirement. He can be described as an inventive guy and he seems to enjoy upcycling old airplanes. For him, these engineering masterpieces hold a lot of potential outside of their regular usage. It would have been a waste to simply turn into scrap metal. Equipped with a fantastic imagination, an old jetliner, and a parcel of land, he was ready to come up with a great abode. Let us get to it!

Don’t confuse the famous actor with the same name for this Bruce Campbell! This retired engineer might be 64 years old now, though he has never gone without his creativity. When he was a strapping young man in his twenties, he invested in a 10-acre plot of land measuring located in Hillsboro, Oregon. He got it for only $23,000 back then if you can believe it! It is deep in the woods, though Bruce already had a clear vision about what to do with it back then.
