Opening Minds
Campbell believes that it is his purpose to leave a positive and significant mark in history, both for the sake of the environment as well as the general public. He is a man constantly driven by creativity and innovation. This likely has something to do with the fact that he did electrical engineering work for a long time.
The act of upcycling airplanes definitely makes Campbell excited and giddy. This is a niche field that he calls his own. Beside his airplane home, he explains, “My goal is to change humanity’s behavior in this little niche.” How admirable is that?
Part Of A Small Group
Campbell makes up a small group of enthusiasts who have worked to convert retired jetliners into a great living space. Other members of the group reside on different parts of the planet, from Costa Rica to the Netherlands to Texas. Martin Todd, a spokesperson from the Aircraft Fleet Recycling Association, explained that the organization “is happy to see aircraft fuselages re-purposed in a range of creative ways. We would want them to be recovered and to be re-used in an environmentally sustainable fashion.”
