This Canadian-American actress relocated to Los Angeles at the age of 16 to start a career in show business. She initially did some backup singing and dancing for big stars at different nightclubs. She debuted in the low-budget crime flick 20,000 Eyes in 1961. She also appeared in the film adaptation of Valley of the Dolls, which was among the bigger projects she worked on. Barbara Parkins later received an Emmy nomination for Best Actress for her television work.
