Despite his off-screen issues with Sherwood Schwartz, Reed proved his impeccable talent on screen. He was able to give life to the character of Mike Brady. This thus gave him a spot on the TV Guide list of the greatest on-screen fathers of all time back in 2004.

Aside from Reed’s talent, he was also honest and open when it comes to his thoughts and opinion. There was a particular moment when he had openly shared his thoughts in one episode. This led to a spat between him and Schwartz as usual. Reed refused to work on the scene involving the characters chucking pies at one another without any lines! Reed called this concept ‘dumb’ and ridiculous. He openly reminded Schwartz that the cast wasn’t filming a silent movie.
