As mentioned, divorce used to be a big taboo in their generation. However, if you paid more attention to some of the details on the show, you can see that divorce was actually subtly depicted. In the TV show, Carol’s maiden name is Tyler. However, when she and Mike Brady tied the knot, she actually had to change her name Carol Brady from Carol Martin. Thus, it was clear that the writers sneaked in a clue that Carol wasn’t a widow but a divorcee!

Shady Past
Some people may say that she was shady or some people can say it was simply youth mischief. But what McCormick did was definitely a very Marcia thing. Susan Olsen once shared a funny story about her costar and onscreen sister – apparently, McCormick used to shoplift in her youth! She and her friend Susan Cowsill had once been caught in the act. Unfortunately for Cowsill, she took the consequences and McCormick was able to go unscathed as she had been hiding in the car while her friend was with the authorities.
