Hard Work
Béla was successful in recruiting Nadia, and the two started working together. Nadia trained for three hours each day, driven by an insatiable desire to win. Márta and Béla could not believe Nadia’s exceptional form and burgeoning talent. Nothing could keep Nadia down—no matter how many times she fell down, she always got up, ready to try again.
Ups And Downs
Thank to her coaches’ rigorous training regime, Nadia Comăneci made it to the Romanian National Junior Championship when she was no more than eight years old. She finished in 13th place, no small feat for someone so young, but she was disappointed at her loss. However, she never lost hope and was only more motivated to succeed. It was this drive that brought her back to the Championship the following year, where she placed first.
