Gold and Silver
The budding gymnastic star made her European debut in 1975 at the European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships, which were held in Skien, Norway. In all but one competition, Nadia took home the gold, and in that one she managed silver. At only 13 years old, she was capturing attention worldwide and making spectators take notice.
The American Cup
In 1976, Nadia Comăneci left Europe for the first time, flying across the globe to the United States to compete in the American Cup, which was a warm-up for the Summer Olympic Games in Montreal that same year. The world went into a frenzy over this talented child when she earned herself a set of perfect scores.
