When Playboy carried out a poll to find out who the best drummers are, many chose Karen and she came in first. When Led Zeppelin’s John Bonham saw that, he was quite mad and said, “I’d like to have it publicized that I came in after Karen Carpenter in the Playboy drummer poll! She couldn’t last ten minutes with a Zeppelin number.”

Lip Syncing
Contrary to what some might think, it’s not really that uncommon for musicians to lip-sync in a performance. Richard and Karen did so during their performance of “Bless the Beasts and Children” at the 1972 Academy Awards.
