In 1969, the duo released their debut album. Unfortunately, “Offering” got negative reviews and just sold 18,000 copies. Nevertheless, A&M Records carried on supporting the duo after they rebranded and had success in the international market. The album was called Ticket to Ride and sold as many as 250,000 copies!

The music of the Carpenters was unlike the songs that were on the charts. Even though The Beach Boys and The Mammas and The Papas influenced their music, the duo also added their very own sound. The Carpenters continued to make music until people eventually started to see their talent.
